What Are Overage Fees?

Every plan on Subscribers comes with access to a certain number of subscribers, but you are allowed to send an unlimited number of notifications to those allowed subscribers.

If your site continues to collect more and more subscribers and then eventually exceeds the number of subscribers allowed in your plan, you have the option to upgrade to the next higher plan. But if you stay on your current plan, our system will not stop your collection of new subscribers (and it will even allow you to send push notifications to these extra subscribers that are not covered by your plan), but we will automatically charge you an overage fee based on the number of excess subscribers you have accumulated at the end of each month.

Growth Plan Overage Fees

On a Growth Plan, for each 1,000 subscribers you exceed your subscriber limit by, our system will bill you $3.00 on top of your monthly or yearly subscription fee.

For example, if your selected Growth plan is only for 5,000 subscribers, but you end the current month with more than 5,000 (but not exceeding 6,000 subscribers), then you would be billed $3.00 for that overage at the beginning of the next month. If for the same plan you end the month with more than 6,000 (but not exceeding 7,000 subscribers), then you would correspondingly be billed $6.00 at the beginning of the next month.

Please note that overage fees are separately billed monthly, regardless of whether you are on a Growth Monthly or Growth Yearly plan.

Elite Plan Overage Fees

On an Elite Plan, for each 1,000 subscribers you exceed your subscriber limit by, our system will bill you $2.00 on top of your monthly or yearly subscription fee.

For example, if your selected Elite plan is for 50,000 subscribers but you end the current month with more than 50,000 (but not exceeding 51,000 subscribers), then you would be billed $2.00 for that overage at the beginning of the next month. If for the same plan you end the month with more than 51,000 (but not exceeding 52,000 subscribers), then you would be billed $4.00 for that overage at the beginning of the next month.

Again, please note that overage fees are separately billed monthly, regardless of whether you are on an Elite Monthly or Elite Yearly plan.

How Can I Avoid Paying Overage Fees?

We advise you to consider upgrading your plan if you continuously get overage charges, especially if the combined cost of your overages plus your subscription fee has become comparable to (or higher than) the price of the next higher plan. By upgrading, you will end up getting more for what you pay.

If you don't want to pay overage fees from onset, simply make sure you disable your opt-in prompt when your subscriber count exceeds or is about to exceed what's allowed in your plan to stop collecting new subscribers. The downside is that your website's subscriber base will remain stagnant and will no longer grow.
